Residents from all cultures will be welcomed to Keighley Muslim Association’s first coffee morning.

The group has specifically invited residents living near the Muslim Community Centre to the event on Saturday at 11am. These include elderly residents of sheltered housing in Emily Street.

Mohammed Saleem, the association’s education officer, said one of the aims was to correct misunderstandings about the true teachings of Islam.

Members will also be on hand to listen to people’s concerns about life in the Lawkholme and Eastwood areas.

He said: “They can raise issues like traffic, litter, anti-social behaviour, crime and drugs, and we will pass them on to statutory organisations. We plan to have further meetings like this.”
