Businesses from across the district recently met to hear how they could benefit from the Tour de France.

They learned of the opportunities the world-famous cycle race could present when it comes to the area on July 6.

But they were warned to also be aware of the potential impact it will have on deliveries, staffing and customers.

The meeting in Bradford was hosted by Barclays and the Yorkshire Asian Business Association.

Amjad Pervez, the association’s president, said: “We really need to encourage businesses to start thinking creatively about what opportunities the Tour will bring for their business.”

And Caroline Pullich, for Barclays, said: “Planning ahead is the key to any successful business, and all Yorkshire businesses should be reviewing their plans right now for the Tour. We are working hard to ensure all our customers make the most of this fantastic opportunity, which will showcase Yorkshire to 190 countries.”

Welcome to Yorkshire marketing director, Peter Dodds, said the race was expected to bring more than three million visitors to the region.
