Strong interest has already been shown in this year’s Keighley Business Awards.

A number of companies have registered their desire to take part in the prestigious project.

The awards, which recognise the outstanding work and achievements of businesses across Keighley district, are being repeated following the huge success of the inaugural scheme last year.

More than 50 business representatives attended a pre-launch event last month for this year’s awards, which will be presented during a glittering ceremony at Victoria Hall in Keighley on May 16.

Organisers announced this week the deadline for entries is March 31.

Philip Smith, chairman of the awards steering committee, said: “We were overwhelmed with the success of the pre-launch event, and were delighted so many local businesspeople attended to find out more.

“The awards provide a great platform for businesses to get recognition for their successes and to further promote their products and services, and therefore we hope as many people as possible take up the opportunity to enter.”

He added: “Last year’s awards were a great success, and from the interest we’ve seen so far, this year is likely to be even more so.

“Whether people want to enter or not, they are more than welcome to attend the awards as it’s a fantastic networking and ‘feel good’ event.”

The free-to-enter scheme is split into ten categories – New Business of the Year, Small Business, Entrepreneur, Large Business, Employer, Apprentice or Trainee, Manufacturer or Engineering Business, Independent Retailer, Food and Drink Business and Health and Beauty Business. There will also be an overall winner.

Last year’s Business of the Year crown went to Fenetic Wellbeing, which sells mobility and healthcare products.

A spokesman said: “To be a winner on the night was incredibly rewarding.”

The awards steering committee comprises several organisations, including Airedale Enterprise Services, the Airedale Shopping Centre, Bingley Chamber of Trade and Commerce, CB Digital PR, Clough and Company chartered accountants, Hayfield Robinson, the Keighley News, Keighley Town Centre Association and Puddle Digital.
