A group that encourages Keighley district people to grow their own food has secured funding to stage practical demonstration workshops.

Let’s Grow Keighley, which also aims to create jobs through environmental projects, will be putting on workshops that are particularly designed for people who do not have their own gardens.

Co-ordinator, Pippa Chapman, who lives in Steeton, said the funding from Community First in Keighley West and Keighley Central wards will enable the group to run sessions on how to grow food in containers.

“I’m going to be running two full days of demonstrations in the Airedale Shopping Centre, though the dates haven’t been confirmed yet,” she added.

She said the other workshops will be offered to community groups in Keighley West and Keighley Central.
