A Muslim networking organisation planning a fundraising night to help a seriously ill Keighley child has announced the acts lined up to perform during the evening.

The Professional Muslims Institute (PMI), run by Highfield resident Javed Bashir, is supporting the campaign to raise half-a-million pounds for eight-year-old Callum Ingham, of Parkwood Rise.

Callum may require costly treatment abroad for neuroblastoma – an aggressive form of childhood cancer.

PMI will stage a fundraising dinner for Callum, involving about 300 guests in Keighley’s Victoria Hall at 6pm on April 10.

Mr Bashir said the acts on the night will include stand-up comedian Jeff Mirza and Bollywood-style pianist Imani Hekima. There will also be a talk delivered by Qari Mohammed Asim, the chief imam at the Leeds Makkah Mosque.

The night’s main business sponsor is Shan’s supermarket in Alice Street, Keighley.

Mr Bashir said: “We want to get a good mixture of people from different communities together for the event.

“I’m very pleased the local business community has come forward and is showing its support.

“Callum is part of our community, and as people who live here, we have a role to play in helping him and his family.”
