Road closures along the Tour de France route could come into effect as early as 5am on the day, according to details given to Keighley town councillors.

The latest information was provided to members of the council’s watch and transport committee by its chairman, Coun Graham Mitchell.

He stressed members should understand these traffic management measures currently being put forward by Bradford Council officers were “likely” to be enforced, but were not yet definite.

He said he had been told the Lancashire moor road, which goes towards Laneshawbridge and Colne, will be closed to vehicles.

And he said through traffic on the A650 from the east will be stopped at the roundabout, and buses from Leeds and Bradford may terminate at Dalton Lane.

Keighley Bus Station is likely to be closed on Sunday, July 6, with buses from the west side of Keighley possibly terminating at Suresnes Road and Russell Street. Northern Rail may offer a ‘Monday-to-Saturday’ timetable to deal with visitor numbers, while the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway is expected to operate as frequently as possible from early morning.
