The KWVR is holding its Winter Steam Spectacular from Friday to Sunday. Home locomotive ‘Big Jim’ will make its official debut after years of work and visiting engines will include BR Black 5 No. 95820 and LNER K4 ‘The Great Marquess’. The Stanbury & District Women’s Institute, which has many members from Lees and Cross Roads, meets on Monday at West Lane Baptist Church, Haworth, at 7.30pm, with guest Tim Brook speaking on ‘From Fleece to Jumper’. The competition this month is ‘A sheep, any medium’.

The first of a series of guided walks in March and April organised by the Upper Worth Valley History Group will be taking place on Wednesday, March 12. All have Haworth as the destination from various places around it. This first one starts at Cliffe Castle entrance in Keighley at 10.15am and is a six-mile guided walk. Walkers are advised that the 663 bus departs from Haworth at 9.40am. Suitable gear for all weathers and a packed lunch with a hot drink are required.

Cross Roads Bowling Club presentation night will take place Cross Roads Inn at 7.30pm on Saturday, March 15. On the night there will be a disco and entertainment and a chance to order new club polo shirts, tops and jackets at a reduced price. New players are always welcome to play on Tuesdays in the Airedale & Wharfedale Doubles League.
