A bright flashing sign depicting elderly people is destined to appear in West Lane, Haworth, after councillors gave the traffic-slowing measure the green light.
Keighley Area Committee voted in favour of installing a Vehicular Activated Warning Sign beside houses diagonally opposite the Old Sun Hotel.
The sign was suggested in response to surveys that showed 61 per cent of vehicles broke the 30mph limit along West Lane. It is also hoped to increase the safety of elderly people trying to cross West Lane near the Methodist Church.
Road hatching will also be introduced in the centre of the bend approaching the Old Sun Hotel.
The illuminated sign will display the alternating symbols for ‘road narrows’ and ‘elderly person’, the report said.
