A Denholme charity volunteer who died last September has received a fitting send-off at a concert held in the village.
The event paid tribute to Connor Paul Smith, who had been a helper in the Mpika charity shop for several years.
Local bands Milestone, Play For Ale and Top Whack performed during the gig at Denholme Conservative Club.
Mpika spokesman, June Martin, who also lives in Denholme, said the night raised about £250, which will go towards Mpika’s work to help people in Africa.
She added: “It went very well. It was a good send-off for Connor, and everyone enjoyed the night.
“There was a lovely book of dedications, which people could leave messages in, and there was also nice food and a raffle. It was a really lovely atmosphere.”
She thanked everyone who contributed to the occasion, including the venue, which was made available free of charge.
