A packed programme of art and entertainment is promised for this summer’s Haworth Festival.

The latest instalment of the popular annual event will run from June 19 to 29.

Chairman John Sargent said: “Organ-isation-wise, it’s going well.

“We’re a long way ahead of where we were this time last year, and we’re expecting it to be a very good festival.”

He said a lot of the line-up was being finalised this week, but could already confirm the ten days will include plenty of music, a poetry evening, story telling evening and a play, to be performed at West Lane Baptist Church.

There will also be a ukulele extravaganza, singing, writing and poetry workshops and a photography exhibition.

Mr Sargent said the festival will feature a ‘Zombie Run’, which has been successfully staged in Haworth previously, though the date for this event has still to be announced.

The festival should begin with a show staged by DJ, broadcaster and journalist Andy Kershaw.

Mr Sargent said: “He went down very well at the Keighley Exchange Arts Centre the other night – it was a really good performance.”
