Dog owners allowing their animals to foul a Keighley street are scooping the mess into plastic bags then dumping it in people’s gardens, according to a resident.

Stephen Nutter, 50, of Calver Grove, said the problem is now an environmental health issue.

“During the past few months, the dog walker has decided to put their dog’s mess in bags, and they are throwing these into people’s gardens and onto their driveways,” he said.

“When I went to work one morning, I saw a bag of dog mess on top of my neighbour’s car. Does a person actually have to remove dog mess from their car before they can go to work?”

Steve Hartley, Bradford interim strategic director for environment and sport, said: “We’ve cleaned up this area at the request of a resident and advised wardens to keep an eye out.

“As we cannot monitor any particular area at all hours, we have to rely on members of the public to provide us with information if they see anyone letting their dogs foul or not disposing of dog mess bags properly.

“If we have evidence, we’ll issue the offender with a fine, which, if unpaid, would result in legal action.”
