Kind-hearted shoppers at Bracken Bank Stores in Ingrow have been helping to back the Million for Manorlands fund-raising campaign.

Owner of the Opal Street shop David Mortimer kindly offered to put a hospice collection tin on the counter after reading about Keighley News editor Richard Parker’s London Marathon attempt.

And within weeks, customers had filled it to the top!

Mr Mortimer said: “Bracken Bank Stores would like to thank our customers for their donations towards Richard Parker’s fundraising efforts to help Manorlands.

“The amounts donated all add up to ensure this local charity is able to provide the great services it does. We wish Richard all the best in his efforts to compete in the London Marathon this year.”

Richard said: “I can’t thank Mr Mortimer and his customers enough for their support. It really helps you to stay motivated for all those training runs in the wind and rain!”

A second collection tin is now in store.

Mr Mortimer added: “We will continue collecting for Manor-lands, and a member of our team has also entered the BigK 10K, so please feel free to call in and sponsor her as well.”

Richard is currently £400 short of his fundraising target. Visit virginmoneygiving.com/richardparker or call 01535 606611 (option three) to sponsor him.
