Keighley Cougars have pledged their support for a charity barge pull.
Nurse Emma Fisher, her husband Gavin and friends aim to heave the barge from Liverpool to Leeds to raise £20,000 in memory of a lung cancer victim. And the rugby league club has said it will help on the Skipton to Keighley stretch.
Mr and Mrs Fisher, of Thackley, hope to complete the 127-mile challenge in five days – starting on May 4 – and set a new world record. Proceeds will go to the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.
The event is in memory of Julie Robinson, 48, from Leeds, who defied doctors by surviving for 21 months after they gave her only eight weeks when she was diagnosed with aggressive small cell disease. To donate go to virginmoneygiving. com/team/BARGEPULL.
