Councillors overturned a recommendation to refuse an application to turn a private industrial unit in Stockbridge into a commercial garage.

The change of use proposals were debated by Keighley & Shipley Area Planning Panel and relate to a property on land east of 50 Dalton Terrace.

The applicant said the business would not operate at weekends and there would be no changes to current parking.

Council officials had argued that if the plans were approved they would result in an unacceptable increase in traffic using Sussex Street and would increase noise and other disturbance for residents.

Panel members were shown a recent environmental health consultation, which stated there was no record of past complaints about the site. They also noted other similar businesses already in the neighbourhood.

They agreed to grant permission for the change of use, emphasising that business hours must be restricted to between 10am and 5pm.
