A clean-up was held at Braithwaite to clear the way for the launch of new weekly play sessions.
Bradford Council’s play team organised the mini action day, which also involved Community Pay Back, local volunteers, development workers, ward officers and councillors.
Dumped items, litter and brambles were all cleared from the site, next to the Rainbow Children’s Centre. “We had a really good turnout and the site now looks a lot better,” said Keighley-area play officer Debbie Jowett.
“We wanted to try to clear the area in readiness for starting the play sessions, which are being introduced in response to a need for safe conditions in which children can play.”
The free sessions, which are open to all five to 11-year-olds, are being held every Thursday from 4.30pm to 6pm outside the children’s centre.
