Highfield cclub raises £1,255 for Philippine islanders

Children at an after-school club in Highfield have helped to raise £1,255 for an island community in the Philippines.
The money will support a visit by tutor Azra Kanval to Bohol Island to help people living in rural areas.
Azra, who teaches Arabic at Rohani After School Childcare, will spend three months on the island.
Her pupils researched the work of Voluntary Services Overseas, which is organising Azra’s visit.
She said: “The children decided to run a sponsored silence and raised a very impressive £545.”
A fun day last Sunday, including hook a duck, a lucky dip, face painting and a cake sale, raised a further £710. Azra added: “The children helped out with great pride and truly made the most of the teamwork and community spirit that they all feel at Rohani.”
Rohani caters for children aged from four to 16, mixing fun with homework support and classical Arabic lessons.
Azra will set off on her expedition on April 28.
