Libraries in South Craven are looking for volunteers to help those unable to get to their local library.
They would visit people in their homes, including residential homes, to deliver pre-selected books, audio books and other information, spend time talking to them – particularly about their reading/listening choices – and collect items that have been read.
Volunteers always go out in pairs and receive travel expenses.
The role would particularly suit people who have an interest in reading, good communication and interpersonal skills, and are punctual and reliable.
It requires a commitment on a set day once a fortnight, being able to lift small carrier bags containing books, and may include using stairs and lifts.
If you are interested in volunteering – or know someone who may enjoy receiving the home library service – contact Catherine Barlow at catherine.bar low@northyorks.gov.uk or phone 01609 535820.
