A former head teacher of the old Keighley Guard House School will return to the district this weekend.

Dave Farrell, who retired nearly 20 years ago, will be visiting to Haworth to perform with the City of Bangor Male Voice Choir. He joined the group after he moved to North Wales following his retirement.

Mr Farrell and his fellow choristers will be the first artists to perform at the new bandstand in Haworth Central Park on Saturday afternoon.

That same evening, they will sing at a 90-minute concert in Haworth Parish Church in aid of the building’s restoration fund. Admission to the 7.30pm concert costs £5, with concessions at £3.

Mr Farrell said: “As a much-travelled choir that has performed not only nationally but internationally, we’ve sung in some very special places and singing in Haworth Parish Church promises to be one of those memorable occasions.

“As I have members of my family living in Cross Roads it was me who suggested to my fellow choir members we would enjoy singing in Haworth Church and, fortunately, they agreed with me.

“It will be a great experience for the choir singing in this well-known church and it’ll give us extra pleasure knowing we’re going to be helping raise funds for their restoration efforts.”
