More than 30 young people and seven leaders have been invested into the Scout movement following the launch of the new group based at the Madinah mosque in Keighley.
The ceremony – which also included the blessing, in Arabic and English verse, of section flags – was well attended by parents, civic guests, councillors and Scouting representatives.
“The group – whilst primarily for boys and girls from the Muslim faith – is open to all young people from the nearby catchment area, and will be a great asset to the whole community,” said a spokesman for the movement.
Meetings are at 3.30pm on Sundays. E-mail join@keighleyscouts.org.uk for further information.
