East Morton Guides are big knits... and proud of it!
They knitted squares and sewed them together to create 15 patchwork blankets for Airedale Hospital’s maternity ward.
The project will help the girls towards their Big Brownie Birthday Challenge badge.
Group leader Katrina Bastow said: “The girls have done fantastically well – they only started learning to knit in early December.
“We have had a number of wool donations, for which we are extremely grateful, as without these we would not have been able to knit so many blankets.
“I would like to say a huge thank you to the donors and all the people who have supported us during this challenge.”
Claire Mathews, head of midwifery at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, said the blankets will be used for the newborn babies.
She added: “We are extremely thankful for the kind donation to the unit and congratulations to all the girls who have taken part in the challenge – they have done a fantastic job!”
The group meets on Monday evenings. Contact Charlotte Haywood on 07985 233626 for details.
