A project to create huge land art works to celebrate the Tour de France in the Worth Valley will also feature miniature pieces to help involve more youngsters.

Fields of Vision is one of the main commissions for the 100-day Yorkshire Festival 2014.

Members of the Worth the Tour community group, meeting at the Three Acres pub on Monday, were informed that as this project now involves major artists and artworks, there will be less seed-sowing to be undertaken by schools.

A Worth the Tour spokesman said: “In order to maintain the community involvement, the Young Farmers and Fields of Vision partners have devised some little mini Fields of Vision, which can be made in trays so everyone can take part.

“These will be done through the Sue Belcher Centre in Bracken Bank. People taking part – schools or other organisations – will get a bag of soil and two types of seeds, come up with a design, then just add their own sunshine and water.”
