‘Bake buns’ is the latest homely but no-nonsense exhortation intriguing passing walkers and motorists in a field above Oxenhope.
The message is displayed in the form of a Hollywood-style sign, installed by Tour de France enthusiasts in the Worth Valley.
Later this summer, the sign is due to comprise the message ‘Welcome to Yorkshire’, in time for when the Grand Depart cyclists race through.
Until then, letters installed above Shaw Lane are being changed every few weeks to create a new message.
School pupils have been drafted in to help create some of the large, white lettering.
Explaining the most recent ‘commandment’, Councillor Russell Brown, who has been leading the light-hearted Project Hollywood initiative, said: “There’s no great theory behind it – but some of the ladies in our organisation felt some of our earlier messages like ‘Eat pies’ and ‘Drink beer’ were a bit laddish!
“They wanted some more ladylike messages, which is why we’ve had ‘Knit wool’ and now ‘Bake buns’!”
