B&M Retail has opened in its new Keighley store – with a massive increase in the size of its workforce.
Staff numbers have rocketed from 17 to 47, with more jobs in the pipeline.
“The new store is three times bigger than our old premises, with a wider selection of products,” manager, Fiona McGrain, said at Friday’s opening.
“Refitting began about two weeks ago, and we are delighted with the result. It’s a very exciting time for us.”
B&M has moved from its former unit on the Cavendish Retail Park in Cavendish Street to the neighbouring 21,000 sq ft building previously occupied by Sports Direct.
New lines now on offer include alcohol, after the retailer successfully applied for a licence.
The opening ceremony was performed by Keighley mayor, Councillor Sally Walker. She said: “The store looks very impressive, and I am delighted new jobs have been created. It is good for the area.”
