Youngsters at a Keighley school have been raising money to help some of the millions of people made destitute by the civil war in Syria.
Cash has been raised by selling cakes during break time at St Andrew’s CE Primary School.
Deputy headteacher, Alison Bateman, said: “One of the values we’ve been thinking about in worship this half-term is compassion.
“It is wonderful to see that the children in the school are keen to raise money for charities, which show compassion to people around the world.
“Pupil Ibrahim Ahmed, with the support of his uncle Keighley town councillor Amjid Ahmed, has been selling cakes at break time to raise money for the Syria Crisis Appeal. This charity seeks to provide clothes, food packs and medicines for refugee camps.
“Our school council has also arranged for the whole school to be involved in Sport Relief activities such as walking a mile and taking part in a football competition, in order to raise money to donate to this charity too.”
