A prestigious Tour de France trophy made tracks for Keighley and the Worth Valley at the weekend.

The ornate Grand Depart piece, awarded to the city or area that hosts the opening stage of the Tour, spent several days in the district.

It was on display at Haworth Visitor Information Centre on Saturday, and in Keighley Leisure Centre the following day.

People were able to have their photo taken with the trophy, which was first presented last year to the island of Corsica when it hosted the Grand Depart.

A spokesman said: “The trophy has been very well received – we had probably about 250 people to see it at Haworth.

“The feedback has been excellent. A lot of people have commented on the historic nature of the occasion.”

The trophy was also displayed at City Hall in Bradford, where the Lord Mayor – Keighley councillor Khadim Hussain – was among those who called to view it.

The Trophy was also on display in and around Ilkley.
