A Steeton company has given a major lift to Manorlands.

Acorn Stairlifts raised over £12,000 for the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice in last month’s Keighley BigK 10K run and walk.

One hundred staff took part and the firm will receive ‘best fundraising’ and ‘most participants’ awards at a ceremony this month.

The proceeds are almost double what the company raised in last year’s event.

“We have worked closely with Manorlands for over three years,” said Dave Belmont, Acorn Stairlifts’ company secretary.

“Having seen the care it provides to patients suffering from serious illnesses – both at home and within the hospice – we are proud to show our continued support through money-raising events such as the Keighley BigK 10K.”

Andrew Wood, Manorlands-based Sue Ryder regional fundraiser, said: “We are exceptionally grateful to the whole team at Acorn Stairlifts for taking part and for its ongoing support.”

She added: “It is a fantastic achievement to have raised £12,000 and this will make a huge difference to us.

“The money will go towards our palliative care, both within the hospice and for those who live locally and prefer to be treated at home by our expert community team.”
