There was an Easter twist to Cullingworth Primary School’s involvement in the annual Wear A Hat Day.
Pupils took part in the campaign to raise funds for the charity Brain Tumour Research. But instead of using the actual day, March 28, the school delayed the event so it could be combined with its traditional Easter bonnet competition.
Kate Sutcliffe, the Cullingworth head, said the school began fundraising for Brain Tumour Research last year. “We had a child in school who suffered from this disease so we continued to raise money for the charity.”
Brain Tumour Research runs Wear A Hat Day each year to raise funds to support the work of Research Centres of Excellence around the UK.
The charity said that around 16,000 people a year were diagnosed with brain tumours and it was the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40.
