A petition for road safety measures outside Oakbank School in Keighley has been sent to Bradford Council.
The document, aimed at protecting students leaving the school grounds, was presented to the council’s Keighley Area Committee this month. The petition from David Mortimer, owner of nearby Bracken Bank Stores, will now be passed to the council’s city solicitor for consideration.
Mr Mortimer had attracted more than 270 people calling for a footpath down Ingrow Lane.
He believes this is needed to stop students braving traffic to walk down Ingrow Lane towards Bracken Bank Avenue.
He has also set up an online petition on the Bradford Council website, which by this week had attracted 37 signatures.
