A Coronation Street-mad Keighley man has landed a job as a tour guide on the famous cobbles.

Andy Steele is leading fellow fans around the original Coronation Street outdoor set in Manchester.

The self-confessed Corrie fanatic knows so much about the soap fellow guides seek his help to answer visitors’ questions.

Former Oakbank School student Andy, 24, from Highfield, is a presenter with community radio stations Jam and Drystone, has performed an Elvis Presley act, appeared in Oliver! and Grease and played leading roles with Sutton Amateurs.

His performing experiences are helping him in his job on Coronation Street: The Tour, which is running for the next six months.

The cast recently vacated the set at the Granada studios in Manchester for new facilities in nearby Salford.

Andy said: “My colleagues call me the walking oracle because if they don’t know a fact they come and find me.

“I love to watch episodes from the very first one to now, with characters going as far back as Elsie Tanner and Florrie Lyndley.”
