Family-friendly list of cycling routes
4:50pm Saturday 26th April 2014 in News
Craven Council is encouraging people to get on their bikes and explore the area.
It has produced a series of free guides to more than 20 routes in the district, ranging in length from five to 15 miles and graded easy, moderate or difficult. Most are circular and on asphalt.
Each guide includes a full description and map of the route, together with information about distances and safety precautions, as well as attractions, cafes and pubs en route.
Bruce Dinsmore, the council’s sport development officer, said. “We are working hard to ensure the Tour de France will leave a lasting cycling legacy in this area.
“We discovered there were hardly any cycling guides available for the district.”
He added: “We hope these guides will encourage people to give cycling a go. They are really designed for the novice cyclist, rusty cyclists or visitors to Craven.
“The routes are mainly on quiet roads or country lanes, and most avoid going up long hills. Every route has something of interest on it and refreshment options, such as a pub or cafe.”
