Hair-raising experience for Eastburn's Laura!
8:00am Thursday 1st May 2014 in News
An Eastburn girl is having her flowing locks cut off to create a wig for a child fighting cancer.
Laura Cook 12, will undergo a hair-raising experience on Saturday to support the Little Princess Trust.
The charity makes real-hair wigs for girls and boys across the UK who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.
Laura is also being sponsored in the hope of raising money to make more of the wigs, which cost £350 each.
Laura’s mother, Helen, said her daughter wanted to help after learning about the work of various charities at school and from watching Children in Need.
She added: “She’s always liked helping people – she sponsors a snow leopard through WWF with her pocket money and, as a family, we sponsor an African child.
“Laura’s hair is going to be a lot shorter it has been long all her life.”
Laura, who attends Skipton Girls High School, will have her hair cut by Kelly at the Beau salon in Steeton. People can donate to Laura via the just giving.com/Helen-cook3 website.
