‘Turn On Your TV’ will be theme of Cononley’s sixth annual scarecrow festival this weekend.

Dotted around the village will be about 60 scarecrows, made by villagers keen to show off characters from some of their favourite television programmes.

Cononley Parish Council chairman Councillor Lois Brown said: “We always try to choose a theme with a wide subject, which allows children and adults to think up a number of ideas. Last year we had fairy tales and nursery rhymes.

“So far, programmes like Call The Midwife and Bob The Builder are proving very popular.”

Programmes with a list of scarecrow trail entries will be available at the Cononley Post Office, Cononley Institute, the New Inn and the Railway.

The festival will run from Saturday to Monday and Cononley Institute will be open on Sunday for refreshments from 2pm to 5pm.

A full range of family activities will take place at the institute from 10am to 4pm on Monday. Duck races will start at 1.30pm and 3.30pm.
