Street entertainment and a three-day market livened up Keighley town centre for this year’s St George’s Day celebrations.

Entertainment was laid on by Keighley Town Council, and the market in Low Street was staged by Bradford Council.

Councillor Tony Wright, chairman of the town council’s events and leisure committee, said: “We had a Punch and Judy show, steam organ, flea circus and a performer called Musical Ruth, who was a man dressed up as a nun playing an electronic piano!

“He had people in stitches – he was like the pied piper, people were following him all over the shopping centre!

The occasion also included a music competition, with five live acts competing against each other in Church Green.
