Parisian chic was the order of the day at a grand ball held to raise money for the Lord Mayor’s charity appeal.

The Lord Mayor’s ball was held at Bradford’s Hilton Hotel on Saturday night, with a troupe of Can-Can girls providing the entertainment.

The Parisian theme was chosen to tie in with the much-anticipated arrival of the Tour de France this year.

All proceeds went to the charity drive, which this year is raising cash for Bradford Disability Sport and Leisure.

The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Keighley Central councillor Khadim Hussain, said: “I thought it was very befitting to theme the event on France, especially as my theme this year has been celebrating diversity.”

He said he has been told it was one of the most successful Lord Mayor’s charity balls of recent years, with about 400 people buying tickets. He added: “It was an electric atmosphere.”
