A range of activities will be offered at the Sangat Centre in Lawkholme during Keighley Festival.

The community centre in Marlborough Street will host activities for all ages on July 11.

Festival chairman Malc-olm Hanson said: “We couldn’t believe it when venue organisers outlined their plans for the day.

“It soon became clear they were really setting out to present an unrivalled programme of events.”

There will be an information day dedicated to health, wellbeing and education, with stands from organisations including York St John University, Eastwood School, Careers Advice Bradford and Health of Men.

The garden area will host seed and sapling planting sessions for schoolchildren, along with a creative environmental art session and Tour de France-related art.

After school, there will be children’s activities, including face painting, mehndi, cake decorations, Play Rangers and ice cream.

The evening will be devoted to the Sangat Centre’s annual Curry Night, in which various dishes are demonstrated.

Anyone wishing to hold an event during Keighley Festival – which runs from July 7 to12 – should e-mail malcolm.b.hanson-@gmail.com or call (01756) 983730.
