Distraught Bronte Vintage Gathering bosses have been forced to cancel today’s activities due to the weather.
Organisers of the annual charity extravaganza decided this morning to call off the event for safety reasons.
“The field is just a quagmire so we had no option but to cancel,” said spokesman Trish Wood.
“We are absolutely gutted. It is the first time in the event’s 16-year history that we have been in this situation.
“The weather yesterday was poor, but everything still went ahead and it was OK.
“But we had a lot more rain overnight and it just made the conditions unsafe.
“At the moment we don’t know how this will affect the amount raised. It still seems totally surreal.”
Over the years the event, held at Haworth Road in Cullingworth, has coined-in over £300,000 for Manorlands, the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.
Attractions yesterday included stalls, motorbikes, lawn mower racing, tractors, horse rides, a dog agility show, falconry, classic vehicles, bouncy castles and live bands.
