An evening of wheely exciting entertainment is promised by the Sue Ryder charity.

A host of Keighley performing groups will celebrate the Tour de France with the show at Victoria Hall.

The spectacular presentation will officially open the town’s celebrations of the arrival of the Tour’s Grand Depart in Keighley.

And all proceeds of the July 4 show will go to Sue Ryder’s Manorlands hospice in Oxenhope.

The show will tell the story of the Tour de France and Keighley’s cycling history through a variety of performances.

Groups including Steeton Male Voice Choir, Keighley Amateur Singing and Dance Group and the Nydza School of Dance, along with enthusiastic school groups, will be taking part.

There will be narration between acts provided by Keighley artist and cycling enthusiast, Frank O’Dwyer, who has spearheaded the project.

Sue Ryder fundraiser, Harriet Bevan, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for local artistic groups and schools to come together, showcase their talents and celebrate the arrival of the Tour de France in Keighley.

“A big thank you must go to Broughton Park Executive Cleaning Company and NIBO Design and Print for their sponsorship and support of Manorlands.

“Their involvement has really allowed us to boost this event so that 100 per cent of the ticket sales can go to the vital care we provide, not only within the walls of the hospice but out in the community.”

The event is also being supported by Keighley Town Council and Bradford Council.

A display created by Mr O’Dwyer, exhibiting work by the local community in preparation for the arrival of the Tour de France, is on display in Keighley until May 18.

Visit sueryder.org/galaevening or contact regional fundraiser, Harriet Bevan, on (01535) 640445 to book tickets.

Tickets are also available from local Sue Ryder shops, Central Hall in Alice Street and Keighley Civic Centre in North Street.
