Silsden Gala Queen Emily-Jane Murdoch will ride to this year’s festivities in a horse-drawn carriage.
The five-year-old, below, and her retinue are being treated to a traditional carriage courtesy of Silsden Town Council.
The local authority approved the gala committee’s request for £500 to pay for a carriage for the June 27 procession.
Ward councillor Adrian Naylor said the Gala Queen had been carried in an open-top car in previous years.
But council chair-man, Coun Chris Atkinson, had supported the idea of a horse-drawn carriage because 2014 is the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War.
Emily-Jane, who lives in Silsden, attends Aire View Infant School and enjoys dancing, swimming and gymnastics.
