A pilot and passenger were injured and trapped upside down when their light aircraft crashed after landing at an Oxenhope airstrip this afternoon.

Fire crews and specialist rescue teams from across Bradford district were sent to the airfield, beside Black Moor Road and close to Upwood holiday park and caravan site.

Crews from Keighley, Fairweather Green and Bingley were first to arrive following the emergency call made at about 4pm.

The upturned plane appeared to have toppled over after reaching the end of the runway.

“The two people inside had suffered some injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment,” said a West Yorkshire Fire Service spokesman.
