A Keighley councillor mingled with several royals as he attended the Queen’s Garden Party.

Adrian Farley was among hundreds of people invited to Buckingham Palace for the prestigious eventThe Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles and Camilla, Sophie, Edward and Alexandra were in attendance.

And although Coun Farley did not manage to speak to any of the Royal Family he was still bowled over with the experience.

Coun Farley, who represents Keighley West ward, was among several members of Bradford Council whose names were picked out of a hat to receive a ticket.

He said: “Every year Buckingham Palace sends a number of tickets to City Hall and I put myself forward because it was something I’m interested in.

“I think it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunit. I’m probably not the most ardent monarchist but it was a brilliant experience.”

Coun Farley said he had always been fascinated by the concept of the garden party and the history of Buckingham Palace.

He said: “Walking through the palace is quite unreal, you’re looking around you as you walk.”

The Queen’s Garden Party involves members of the Royal family taking specific routes around the palace gardens while guests are randomly presented to them.
