KEIGHLEY’S Welcome Project is leading a campaign to get older people using computers.

The group is running training sessions at the Sue Belcher Centre in Bracken Bank to help seniors gain confidence online.

It is recruiting volunteers to become ‘internet befrienders’ who can support some of the fledgeling silver surfers.

The campaign has grown out of an over-50s tea party held at the Sue Belcher Centre to find out what activities residents would like to take part in.

Welcome Project spokesman Shona Grange said: “The Welcome Project has a section on its website dedicated to CLICKS (Computer Links In Communities Keighley), which is a little like Facebook, but allows people to keep in touch with each other safely.”

After six weeks at Bracken Bank, the computer project will move to Braithwaite then other areas of Keighley.
