AN OXENHOPE woman who devised a pair of fun, family-friendly games to raise cash for charity will be making them available again for people to buy this Sunday. (July 13)
Jill Buchanan, of Marsh Lane, invented a board game version of the Oxenhope Straw Race and also came up with a portable, travel version of another game called cross sticks.
She has been selling the games to raise cash for causes such as Manorlands hospice and the Haworth Parish Church Restoration Fund.
They will be on offer during this Sunday's 2014 Oxenhope Straw Race and also later that day at the Sue Ryder Manorlands garden party.
The straw race will be setting off at noon from outside Oxenhope's Keighley & Worth Valley Railway station, in Station Road.
For years, the race has begun from the Waggon and Horses Inn at Hebden Bridge Road. However, the start location had to be altered after the pub closed and was put on the market.
The popular race has generated many thousands of pounds over the years for a variety of local charities, with the 2013 event alone raising more than £9,000.
