KEIGHLEY councillors have asked for six-monthly reports on the activities of youth workers across the town.
Keighley Area Committee made the request last week (July 10) after receiving a report on the reorganisation of the district’s Youth Service.
The shake-up, which saw a reduction in youth workers serving Keighley and surrounding villages, was caused by Bradford Council spending cuts.
The council last year devolved responsibility for its youth workers to the district’s five area committees.
Area committee members congratulated the new-look Keighley Youth Service on its outstanding performance in recent months.
They pledged to support the youth workers, and will investigate whether current spending priorities meet the needs of local young people.
The committee asked for more information about young people who have received accreditation through schemes such as the Duke of Edinburgh, first aid and food hygiene training.
They also asked to hear about the results of an audit on the Youth Service’s buildings – currently being carried out across the district – by September.
