FRESH details on how a young boy was pulled from the water at the Tinker Bridge waterfall have been released by the emergency services.

The eight-year-old is in a critical condition in hospital after spending at least five minutes unconscious under the water at North Beck late yesterday morning.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "A crew from Keighley Fire Station was first on the scene, where a small group of three to four adult members of the public had already entered the water and were attempting to rescue the eight-year-old.

"Fire fighters entered the water forming a human chain and began a structured search along with police officers and members of the public.

"The youngster was located by fire service personnel and carried to the bankside, where a second crew from Bingley delivered basic life support alongside ambulance paramedics.

"The youngster was then flown to hospital by air ambulance.

"The incident was also attended by the water rescue crews from Brighouse and Rothwell stations."
