SCHOOLS across the Keighley district have today chalked-up top class A-level results.

University Academy Keighley said it had achieved its best ever.

"The percentage of A-C grades shows an 11 per cent increase on last year – with a tremendous overall pass rate of 99 per cent," said principal Linda Wallsgrove and sixth-form director Stuart Smith, in a joint statement.

"The overall attainment and achievement of our students reinforces the academy's continued commitment to success.

"It also demonstrates the expert teaching and guidance of our staff and hard work and determination of the students."

At Oakbank School in Keighley, assistant headteacher Mary Bibby said there had been some "stunning" performances across the whole year group.

"We are incredibly proud of our students who have done brilliantly," she said.

"Our sixth form has achieved another superb set of results. It was fantastic to have so many achieving top grades and the majority of students have secured their first choices at university."

South Craven School at Cross Hills is also celebrating first class results.

Headteacher Dr Andrew Cummings thanked parents and families for their support and paid tribute to staff for their hard work.

He added: "As well as congratulating the top performers we offer our congratulations to all students who have worked very hard to reach the grades they needed to progress to university, college or employment.

“We will be offering our usual post-results support to any student needing to make decisions."

At Parkside School, Cullingworth, over a quarter of students attained A* or A grades in one or more subjects and more than two-thirds obtained A*-C grades overall.

"We are delighted with the outstanding results – many of our students exceeded the challenging target grades set for them and our overall 'value-added' score, although not yet finalised, has increased significantly from last year," said post-16 director, Jane Evans.

"We congratulate all our students on their hard work and dedication."

Holy Family School in Keighley is also delighted with its results.

Acting headteacher, Martin Hings, said pupils and staff can be proud.

“We have maintained our excellent standards this year and we are delighted for our students and staff that all their hard work has been recognised with this excellent set of results," he added.

“Moreover, 90 per cent of our students achieved their first choice university place."
