A SILSDEN farmer has plenty to be bullish about.

Simon Bennett, of Delph Farm, Silsden Moor, has notched-up his fourth prime cattle championship of the year title at Skipton Auction Mart.

His latest success – in this month's show and sale – was with his first prize British Blue-cross bullock, by well-proven stock bull Brookfield Columbo.

The animal then sold for the day's top price of £1,546 to Keelham Farm Shop, at Thornton.

The shop has bought every prime cattle champion so far this year at the Skipton monthly shows, together with many of the prime lamb victors.

Mr Bennett also took second prize with a Limousin-cross bullock, which sold for £1,033 to Stanforths Butchers in Skipton.

In the prime lamb show, judge Paul Watson bought four prize-winning pens including the first and third prize Mule or Mashams from Ken and Lynne Throup, of Silsden Moor, and Alec and Nathan Wade, of Bradley.
