DOZENS of children took part in a sponsored crawl, toddle and run to raise cash for a pair of good causes.

50 children aged nine months old to 11 years old enjoyed Tuesday's (Aug 26) event outside the Bridge House Day Nursery, in Steeton. They were raising cash for Sue Ryder Manorlands and a charity called CORE, which helps people with gut and liver disease.

The occasion was arranged by nursery manager Angela Goff and her brother Graham Turnbull in memory of their father and uncle who both died earlier this year.

Different fundraising activities at the nursery are taking place throughout this week for all the children who attend the nursery and its holiday club.

Commenting on Tuesday's activities, officer in charge at the nursery, Donna Barnes, said: "It went really well, the children absolutely loved it. They were very giddy at the end, and they all had a lovely day. Graham came down in the morning and took part as well.

"The parents have been very supportive, but we don't know how much we're likely to raise yet. The children are only little so we're only giving them small sponsor forms. We'll be splitting the money equally between CORE and Manorlands."
