A KEIGHLEY town centre charity shop's public appeal to help return a set of family photos to its rightful owner has been a success.
Yorkshire Cat Rescue, which has a shop in Cavendish Street, had said the pictures had been donated accidentally in mid-August inside a box of clothing.
The 25 black and white images showed family gatherings, including what appears to be a wedding, and also passengers disembarking from an Australian Qantas airline aircraft.
Following a story about the photos in the Keighley News on September 4 Yorkshire Cat Rescue shop manager, Helen Wilkinson, said a man came into the shop to claim the pictures later that same day.
Mrs Wilkinson said: "The gentleman brought in a photocopy of one of the photos with him. He was 'over the moon' to have the pictures back in the family's possession. It is nice to have a happy outcome."
She noted that receiving personal items which had been inadvertently donated was not a new problem for the shop, adding that she and her colleagues had more recently found some old legal paperwork and bank books in a donation, which they were again able to return to the owner.
She said: "We would request that people carefully check any donations, especially because unless they are Gift Aided, we have no way of knowing who has kindly given them to us."
