TRIBUTE has been paid to a former tax inspector who has clocked-up 85 years as an active member of a church.
Rhoda Longbottom, who recently celebrated her 90th birthday, joined Keighley New Church as a Sunday School member.
"Over the years she has been a member of the Fire Fellowship – a New Church young people’s organisation after the war – Wolf Cub leader, spring fair stall manager and member of the rambling club to name but a few," said church council member Phillip Brooks.
She also served as treasurer during the period in the 1990s when New Church relocated from its previous base in Devonshire Street to Braithwaite Village.
"Rhoda still enjoys the weekly worship as well as being taken on day trips into the countryside with a pub lunch – as it reminds her of all the travelling around Yorkshire she did as a tax inspector," added Mr Brooks.
