PARENTS in Haworth, Silsden, and Keighley are waiting to hear the outcome of consultations over the future of local children’s centres.
Bradford Council last week finished a three-month series of feedback sessions across the district concerning its proposal to revamp the district’s centres.
At least three feedback sessions were held in central Keighley, with none in outlying villages despite requests from councillors in Silsden.
Those attending the sessions were told how centres in the Keighley area could be brought together as one ‘cluster’, including Treetops in Haworth, Daisy Chain in Silsden, Low Fold at Exley Head, Rainbow in Braithwaite, and the Highfield Centre.
The cluster would share one staff team, moving between the centres, and also host services from other professionals such as midwives.
The proposals were put forward after the council performed a U-turn on its original plans, which could have led to the closure of Treetops and Daisy Chain.
